The Koke’e Experience

We hope that our guests can appreciate the unique opportunity it is to have simple access to stay in the natural beauty of our State Parks; Koke'e Park / Waimea Canyon. This is a rare and valuable treasure that those in the know have great appreciation.

 There are many who feel the Koke'e Experience is paralleled by no other. Hiking temperatures are perfect. Access is as easy as it could be. The visual rewards are simply spectacular. Combine this with the cultural heritage of such a place and you have the makings of a deep experience thick with wonder and spirituality.

 This being said, this remote location does come with some inconveniences.  These are cabins in the MOUNTAINS! Many are not accustomed to thinking that in Hawaii, you can be cold! The Cabins are located above 3000 feet. This means you can expect temperatures 20 Fahrenheit lower than at sea level. 40-70 Fahrenheit in the winter and 50-80 Fahrenheit in the summer on average. With occasional cold snaps! High quality firewood is available to purchase for heating with the only heat source for the Cabins; the wood burning stove. Most find building a fire at their cabin while on vacation to be a fun and unique experience.

 While we work overtime to manage mountain/forest critters and foliage, you can expect to see these things at the cabins. The Cabins are also located in close proximity to the center of Kauai; touted as the wettest spot in the world. While this achieves impressive greenery, it also comes with; fallen trees, soft and/or slick soil, and mosses/mildews. As the saying goes, there is no stopping Mother Nature.

 If the conditions of a wet and mountainous forest are not what you are looking for, DO NOT STAY AT THE CABINS AT KOKEE PARK! You will be much happier at one of our arid ocean level accommodations at the entrance to the park and visit the park daily at your convenience.  NOTE: Check in office is in Waimea- Cabin is located in the Park.

The Management



  Waimea Canyon, on Kauai's West Side, is described as "The Grand Canyon of the Pacific." Although not as big or as old as its Arizona cousin, you won’t encounter anything like this geological wonder in Hawaii. Stretching 14 miles long, one mile wide and more than 3,600 feet deep, the Waimea Canyon Lookout provides panoramic views of crested buttes, rugged crags and deep valley gorges. The grand inland vistas go on for miles.



 North of Waimea Canyon on Kauai’s West Side is Kokee State Park. Spread over 4,345 acres on a plateau 3,200 to 4,200 feet above sea level, Kokee State Park is covered in forest, wild flowers and hiking trails making it an excellent spot to see native plants and colorful endemic Hawaiian forest birds like the apapane, iwi and moa. The park also offers roughly 45 miles of the state's finest hiking trails. Some trails lead to views of Waimea Canyon, others wind through wet forests with sweeping views of valleys opening up to the North Shore.

The Lehua Cabin

The Lehua Cabin is the Crown Jewel of the Cabins at Kokee. You will become one with nature at this world renowned location in the Mountains of Kauai. Walking distance to the best hiking trails in the park. This impressive cabin will inspire you with its cedar scents and warm woodwork. Outside, the wind in the tall trees and many forest birds provide a connection with nature you are guaranteed to appreciate.

The Cedar Cabins

Two Bedroom; Queen Bed and Two Single Beds- one shower bathroom

The Cedar Cabins are the higher quality cabins of our Cabins at Kokee. You will become one with nature at this world renowned location in the Mountains of Kauai. Walking distance to the best hiking trails in the park. This impressive cabin will inspire you with its cedar scents and warm woodwork. Outside, the wind in the tall trees and many forest birds provide a connection with nature you are guaranteed to appreciate.  

Redwood Cabins

Two Bedroom; Queen Bed and Double Bed- one shower bathroom

The Redwood Cabins is the middle priced of the Cabins at Kokee. You will become one with nature at this world renowned location in the Mountains of Kauai. Walking distance to the best hiking trails in the park. Outside, the wind in the tall trees and many forest birds provide a connection with nature you are guaranteed to appreciate.

Duplex Cabins

Two Queen Beds; Shower Bathroom

The Duplex Cabins are the most affordable of the Cabins at Kokee. You will become one with nature at this world renowned location in the Mountains of Kauai. Walking distance to the best hiking trails in the park. This cabin is best suited for families or those on a budget. Outside, the wind in the tall trees and many forest birds provide a connection with nature you are guaranteed to appreciate.
